Ever get a feeling God and Satan playing good-god/bad-god on us, and we are stuck here like monkeys in a barn?

Yes, but only if the Christians are right (which I seriously doubt). Otherwise, both figures are fictional and should be treated as such. Some Christians love to talk about the great "spiritual battle" between these two oppositional forces. Yet, if one contestant in the battle is omnipotent, then the battle itself is superfluous. The devil cannot be a brilliant deceiver, as some like to claim, because he is stupid enough to fight against another being whom he knows (or should know) to be all-powerful. It all appears as nothing more than mythology -- and incredibly counter-intuitive mythology at that.
