Why is the Government faling our young people?

Right, so there are no degree level courses leading to vocational employment such as nursing, midwifery, key skills in building trades etc etc. Oh, for goodness sake, of COURSE THERE ARE. It;s just that they actually require some application, commitment and work to be done on them rather than the 'soft arts' courses. This is something British youth seems to be increasingly less willing to commit themselves to. Accordingly they choose a soft degree course for the years they go to University and spend out on the lash, then expect to be trained up for a 'proper' job after those 3 years..... Just as a query, what does someone taking (say) a history degree EXPECT to get out of it in terms of vocational oportunities??? I'd say that unless they follow through to a much higher level than a degree and go into academia, then a call centre is about the best they can expect.
